Description of Organization:
1. Under its patronage is a daily youth centre called MDC BLOK, which offers people for the first time and is also a globally organized organization. mind. The purpose of the project is to promote various and constructive free time. In accordance with this spirit, as well as various workshops (creative, music, dancing, theatre, cooking and reading, sports, social participation, excursions) and extra lessons.
The daily youth centre is designed for underprivileged children and for those who have to develop their personal potential. These kinds of young people, who are endemic to the problem of immature adults. The responsibility of our daily centre is not insignificant. To act appropriately and positively. Youth, other institutions of Familia, ZavodO, libraries et cetera.
2. The second progamme that exists under the patronage of Familija is PUM. PUM means “Project learning for younger adults”. The target group are people from 15 to 25 years. The main goal of the project is informal learning and therefore gaining different skills and skills through these form of learning. Basic aims of PUM are: a) encourage personal growth b) fight social exclusion c) enable basic education d) form from professional, social and cultural identity.
The programme involvement lasts 1 year most. In certain circumstances less than never less than 3 months. The youngsters at this time learn about different occupations and educational programs. They are discovering their interests through project work. Each group has to present a public project – libraries, galleries, radio, television, internet et cetera.
Both programms, MDC BLOK and PUM, are for participation in the free and qualified voluntary participation. Our goal is to reduce the amount of social and environmental problems. An important thing to do is to keep in mind the constraints of the local environment. We would like to encourage their talentsprogramms, MDC BLOK and PUM, are for participans free of charge and based on voluntary participation. Our aim is to reduce the amount of behavioural and social anomalies in certain local environments and to offer children with difficult family backgrounds the possibility of success.
The principle of the EVS project is very suitable for us. Volunteers from other geographical and cultural territories would help our center grow, see the pattern of thinking and acting. On the other hand, they are a part of a successful work-team, is one of the most likable characteristic in our institution. The EVS volunteers are well and fairly included in the working team. The local enviroment of Familija (BLOK and PUM) is a small and beautiful town of Škofja Loka. PUM is located in the town center, Blok is located 3 km out of the center in the neigbhorhood. The town has all the basic facillites for quality social life. The capital, Ljubljana is very close, 25 km with local transport. Worth of mentioning is also a big amount of small Škofja Loka, two pictorraces of Škofja Loka. It is definitelly a place where an EVS volunteer could learn a lot and have a good social life.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 6 volunteers project named Kids in Action 6, which will involve 6 local daycare centres in the area of Škofja Loka, Slovenia. 18 and 18 years. Volunteers will be included in the work of each and every one of them. and get new knowledge through organizing and implementing different activities (workshops, courses, individual support, sports, games, plays, presentations, lectures).
6 volunteers from Russia, Belgium, France, Latvia, Greece and Spain are already selected, but two vacancies are still open:
Vacancy 1: Daycare center for children and youth Škrlovec.
One volunteer is needed for DC Škrlovec, daycare center in Kranj, where she/he will take part in various activities such as organizing the daily routine, realizing workshops (cooking, sports, games, handicrafts, outdoor activities, cultural program…), realizing individual lessons with the children (assistance at homework, practising English, conversation, playing games)… The volunteer will have a great opportunity not just to show and improve her/his own abilities, develop a sense of initiative, gain new skills and get new knowledge but also to become an active and equal member of the local community.
Vacancy 2: Daycare center for addicted parents & people with mental disabilities
We look for the volunteer, who would assist at the work of Therapeutic Community for Addicted Parents (Projekt Človek) and in the Day Care Center for People with Manor Mental Disabilities (ŠENT). Work will be shared between both organizations in equal share, but based on his/her interests the volunteer can also get involved in the work of some other organizations in the local community. The tasks of the volunteers are assistance at different workshops, courses, assistance at sport and other leisure activities, conversations with the users of the program.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS: The main square of Škofja Loka, old historical town with about 13,000 inhabitants, located 25 km NW from Ljubljana. Each volunteer will stay in a single bedroom with shared cooking, washing and laundry facilities. Volunteers will cook by themselves, the monthly food allowance will be provided (176 €). They will also receive a monthly allowance of 120 €. This is for all of the volunteers, the bike will be provided for public transportation (if needed).
TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT: On-arrival and Mid-term training organized by the Slovenian National Agency, all the training organized by host organizations and by some other partner organizations from the local community.
VOLUNTEER PROFILE: Candidates should be motivated, flexible, patient, creative, open-minded, self-initiative, communicative, interested with the children, adolescents and youth leisure are welcomed . Ability in music, sport, manual activities, handcrafts, dances, art, multimedia would be also convenient. Future volunteer should be in your project, plan and execute her / his own projects.
