Bona Fides Association along with Outward Bound Croatia are looking for Polish volunteers, or residents in Poland, to join our long-term project in Zagreb, Croatia helping young people work on their personal development, employability chances and empower and motivate them to become active members of their communities. PROJECT’S AIMS

The aim of the project is to help young people work on their personal development, enhance employability and improve career prospects, empower and motivate them to become active members of their communities. The volunteers will be directly involved in the everyday work of OBC, mostly in the office in Zagreb but also on outdoor programs and programs for youth in the OB educational center in Veliki Žitnik, a small village in the rural region of Lika.

They will be encouraged to plan, organize and implement their own project ideas, and thus improve their presentation skills, self-confidence, creativity, sense of initiative and self-expression. Volunteers will develop and improve a range of skills and competences during their volunteering experience– digital competences and media skills, social and civic competences, cultural awareness and creative expression, communication in foreign languages, intercultural and social skills. Living and working in an intercultural environment will equip them with intercultural skills and understanding for diversity and tolerance.

ORGANIZATION

Outward Bound Croatia is a member of a world-renowned schools of Outward Bound International network, a leading organization providing outdoor experiential learning programs. The main field of activity is organization and implementation of innovative outdoor programs for school children and youth, with special concern to youth with fewer opportunities.. Programs include courses in nature, teaching various technical skills and sports, learning how to overcome physical and mental challenges and result in building self-esteem and discovering one’s full capacities, which can later be transferred to everyday life. Special attention is also given to social and environmental responsibility and the impact of one’s actions on the group and society as a whole. PROFILE OF VOLUNTEERS 

Youngsters aged 18-30 motivated to actively participate in all the activities during the whole project duration, willing to contribute in the administrative aspect of youth programs, interested to learn and develop their skills and open towards new experiences. 

Interested to work both in an office environment as well as with youth. 

No qualifications or previous experience is required 

Candidates with fewer opportunities will be given advantage

VOLUNTEERS’ TASKS 

Volunteers will be working in the organisation’s office in Zagreb on organisational, administrative, promotional and design tasks: writing content for the organisation’s social media, preparing and implementing Erasmus + youth projects activities and presenting them through media and social network posts… 

They will have the opportunity to work in the field with youth as well, which takes place in and around the OBC educational center in Veliki Žitnik. The engagement of the volunteers will be more intense and on many different levels – organization, logistical support, maintenance of the educational center… 

Ratio of office work and field work is approximately 70/30 and the schedule in will be from 9a.m – 4p.m. with one hour lunch break.

Intercultural and social skills, as well as communication skills and ability to express yourself in English

Croatian culture and customs (linguistic support and basic Croatian language course will be organized)

Awareness about the importance of sports, leading a healthy lifestyle and spending time in nature

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION

Travel costs? Real travel costs will be refunded to the volunteers at the end of the volunteering period up to 275€.

Allowance money? You will get 140€ per month each first Monday of the month Food? Together with the allowance money you will get 120€ per month for ood.

When working in the field, food is organised by OBC 

Accommodation? We take care of that. And there’s wifi – no costs for you ;) Equipment? Any equipment you might need to take part in an activity you can borrow in the educational center 

LOCATION

Volunteers will be accomodated in Zagreb, in an apartment provided with all the facilities to support the volunteers needs. The apartment is at 20 minutes walking distance from the office. Each volunteer will have their own room.

Zagreb, the capital and biggest city in Croatia, is settled between the Medvednica mountain and nature park and the river Sava. Zagreb offers a lot of cultural, sports and other leisure activities and opportunities, depending on one’s interests and needs.

During the OBC programs that mostly take place in our educational center in Veliki Žitnik, near the town of Gospić, in the rural part of Croatia, two hours of drive by car from Zagreb, volunteers will be accommodated in the educational center, actively involved in the program, which sometimes also includes outdoor activities and sleeping outside. Transfer and food during the program in educational programs are programs are provided by OBC.

The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is a part of the European Program called Erasmus+.

Erasmus+ is open to all young people, and it is a program created by the  European Union for mobility inside and outside EU borders, to promote non-formal education and intercultural dialogue, and to support all kind of youngsters regardless of their level of education, of their origins and their cultural background.
