Portugal, Dezembro de 2020

December surprisingly was very cold, but it didn’t stop me and my friends to go for a trip through Central, East, South and West side of the country. We could see Portugal from completely different side we know and we really enjoyed it. It was awesome adventure!During this month I could also feel preparation for Christmas time – almost every day. At my work place we were doing handmade decorations, preparing Christmas show, making postcards and a lot of others Christmas activities like watching typical Christmas movies, cooking traditional cakes or decorating Christmas tree. I could also join to Christmas Eve dinner with all my kids. Me and others volunteers from my house prepared also our own Christmas with few different international dishes. Portugal, Dezembro de 2020

December has always been a very important month for me. Since my childhood I used to spend almost all month in preparation for Christmas Eve when we traditionally sit with all my family around one table, eat delicious food, talk for hours, sing songs and give each other presents. From the beginning of this month I was a bit sad that this year I can’t see my family at this special time. But to my great surprise this year’s Christmas turned out to be one of the best in my life. After I told my Turkish friends how important this holiday is for me they decided to make it special and, even though they don’t usually celebrate it, really step up the game. All the people from the house prepared some traditional dishes for the common dinner. Me and other polish girls made pierogi, without which Christmas Eve cannot take place for us. There were so many delicious dishes it was almost impossible to try everything. Then there was time for presents. We decided to arrange Secret Santa so everyone could get a gift and we could all know each other a bit better. It was a great evening. I didn’t think after spending just 3 months in Portugal I’ll be able to really connect with newly met people but now I kind of feel like we are a family. Maybe a bit weird but a family. Portugal, Dezembro de 2020

Cześć. Hello. December was the second month of my project. Two first weekends I spent in home with half of my flatmates next to fireplaces with hot cup of tea. But after official lockdown for long weekends I met with my polish friends in Lisbon and I went with them to visit Sintra. On one sunny day I also went to the Cabo de Roca where I had picnic during the sunset. This month was also different because it was first Christmas without my family. Anyways it was good time where I had opportunity to know Christmas traditions from another countries. New Year Eve I was celebration with my flatmates, drinking a lot of Juice
