1.Foster home- Viesoji istaiga Marijampoles vaiko teviskes namai, LT
Marijampole Children’s Family Home is a non- governmental organization which takes care of custody of orphans and homeless children as well as creates a system of orphan custody and and education on the basis of a natural family model.
Volunteer’s role would be social worker’s assistant, they would learn how to work and help the children of social risk environment. They would never get the final responsibility for the children and there would always be a social worker to assist and help in difficult situations. Volunteers could help the children to improve their life skills in everyday activities, participate and help to organize the events and other activities of the Marijampoles vaiko teviskes namai, go to excursions and other trips with the children with bycycles or by walking, help children on their spare time involving them into meaningful activities, help them with their homework of volunteers tongue language and other, to implement their own ideas to our community.
Marijampole’s foster home accept all kind of volunteers, regardless their background or other features. It is crucial to volunteer to love the children and to be motivated and willing to work with children who are from social risk environment. Also, he/she should be flexible, communicable, able to adapt to various situations, can work under stress. He/she must be tolerant and emotionally stable. To have the ability to work in a team, like the tourism trips and have physical strength for that.
2.Kauno Marių regional park / Kaunas lagoon regional park directorate
Tasks for volunteers:
– maintenance of regional parks infrastructure, camp places (fixing and renewing regional parks infrastructure (wooden visitor trails, information stands, information arrows, painting tables and benches)
– visitor, landscape, nature monitoring;
– helping to organize educational programs, excursions, different events for visitors;
– walking with regional parks’ ranger and monitoring the territory, providing information for visitors;
– working with public relations, spreading information about Kaunas lagoon regional park educational activities, excursions, events in English language;
– herb picking;
– collecting and sorting trash in Kauno marios regional park;
– implementation of own project related with nature conservation within regional parks specifics,
as example – lessons for kids in English language about nature, creation of new playing ground for
kids, visitor trail, campaign for cleaning some shores of Kauno marios.
Participants should have interest and love to nature, they have to like staying and working outside, it would be great if participants would have nature education background, as example – biologist, geographer, chemist, environmentalist, forester; however, it’s not necessary. In addition, it would be important that volunteer would be physically healthy and strong, because many tasks would be carried out outdoors (sometimes the whole day), which takes lots of energy and sometimes requires strength.
3.Kaunas Kudirkos library
Role and tasks of the volunteers:
Volunteer will be expected to assist in all activities of library are organized:
– organization of exhibitions (help in hanging the pictures, arranging invitations, welcoming of guests);
– meeting with writers (preparation of invitations, own ideas how to arrange the meeting, etc.);
– presentations of books;
– cultural events (discussions, talk shows)
– public city events;
– promotion of reading events;
– social networking (questionnaires, photo competitions),
So, we have work plans, which we will to add to the volunteer activities. Of course, we try to do this very flexibly.
Volunteer should have a value of reading and learning, because many events we organize are in order to promote reading, therefore it should be familiar and important to volunteer. In addition, volunteer should be flexible, advanced social skills are not necessary, because s/he can improve it here, but volunteer should be tolerant to variety of people, because our visitors are all kinds of people and opinions. It would be great if volunteer would have a wish to improve, to learn, to get to know new things.
4.Skuodo Pranciskaus Zadeikio gimnazija/Pranciskaus Zadeikio gymnasium
This project will be hold in Skuodas, Lithuania in Skuodo Pranciškaus Žadeikio gimnasyum.
Activities for volunteers:
The volunteer will help the Student Council to organize various events, campaigns and provide ideas for new projects. By implementing these ideas, he will have to cooperate with the deputy who is responsible for informal education at school. The volunteer will also cooperate with social pedagogue and will take part in socialization, prevention, mentoring activities with pupils who have social needs. He or she will collaborate with class tutors, non – formal education teachers by organizing traditional school events. The volunteer will be able to form a student’s club where one will be able to teach his native language, introduce his country’s traditions, culture and education system.
We need a volunteer with an active life position. The volunteer should be open – minded and interested in the life environment of young people. The volunteer should be able to motivate young people, to organize volunteering projects. The volunteer should be eager to bring his/her own ideas and abilities and to learn new abilities. The volunteer will be included into the hosting organization. We expect a volunteer over 25 years old because it might be difficult to work with the students of the same age.
5.Skuodas region Mosedis Gymnasium:
Tasks, role of volunteer: He could gain experience working in gymnasium’s library and helping our social worker in her daily routine jobs. Communicating with students in in a non formal environment would be a great advantage developing our students’ spoken English. We would like to give a chance for the volunteer some time in the lessons to speak on various topics. He will also be given a classroom in which he will be able to prepare for foreseen activities in lessons and after them, personal initiatives, meet with students, etc. One hour after lessons he would help students to do their homework and present one’s own country, travel experiences as well as organized discussions on various topics.Apart from this, he could set up an extra-curricular activity in which he would be able to express himself and share volunteering experience with others. People responsible for this project, would make an opportunity for a volunteer to organize meetings with other schools or organizations.
An English speaking volunteer is supposed to be sociable, communicative and be interested in participating in youth activities. An advantage would be a hobby like doing sports, playing a musical instrument/singing, reading books and etc – this could lead to creating a specific hobby club and would build a strong community between students or even town’s people. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
1. Volunteering 30-35 h/week at your chosen receiving organization. There will be one person
responsible for planning the schedule with you, advising on everyday tasks.
2. We provide local transport tickets for public transport in Kaunas.
3. You will be part of the group of volunteers at coordinating organization A.C.Patria.
4. Volunteers pay their phone and internet connection fee which may reach ~5.8 EUR/month.
5.One volunteer gets private room in shared apartment (3-5 people)
6.Language courses at least 36 academic hours in a group of volunteers.
7. LT Language classes included.
