PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The principal aim of the association “Officina Creativa Interculturale” is to spread the intercultural and multilingual education in the city of Palermo, among children and adults, teachers and families. Our educative center, is a place where the local community can exchange and share experiences. Italian and foreign people can meet each other and compare their cultures, languages, lifestyles and everyday lives.
The association promotes the different languages and cultures of the world, especially through the first multilingual library for children in Palermo. There is a kindergarten/play room with kids from 18 months to 5 years old: everyday educators involve 2 small groups of children into activities, promoting different languages and a sustainable, slow and cooperative way of life. The association organizes as well different workshops about intercultural education, activities to promote social inclusion or didactic courses in schools, in which the volunteer will collaborate.
The aim of this EVS/ESC project is to give value to the local culture through the discovery of culinary traditions context and to spread intercultural dialogue among children, adults and the local community. Each volunteer will be involved in all these activities, volunteering 7 hours a day, for 5 days a week.
TRAININGS, ACCOMMODATION AND OTHER ARRANGEMENTS
The volunteers will attend an Italian language course, provided by the Hosting Organization. There will be also Italian lessons using on-line tools, realized by EU.
There will be also a training course organized by the National Agency and an
other one organized by the Hosting Organization.
There will be a mentor, a person who will support volunteers in everyday life and in the learning process.
The volunteers will be hosted in an apartment with other young people, close to the city center and the association. Each volunteer will receive 120€/a month for food and 115€/a month as pocket money.
VOLUNTEER’S PROFILE
We are looking for a polish volunteer, between 18 to 30 years old, with at least some experience with children or youngsters. Effective communication skills, teamworking spirit and cooperation abilities. Interest in cultural, religious and linguistic differences. Passionate about learning and teaching different languages.
