PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Bona Fides is looking for one Polish volunteer for one of the two long-term activities of the project:
1. ONCE activity: work with elderly visually impaired persons who live in risk of social exclusion by accompanying them in free time activities and helping them run daily errands such as shopping, going to the doctors, going for a walk.
2. AMPROS activity: accompaniment of the users with intellectual and developmental disabilities of the Ampros Leisure Centre during different free time daily activities.
TASKS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE VOLUNTEER
FIRST AREA
(ONCE activity)
elderly visually impaired persons
- – Accompaniment to people with visual impairments to help them run daily tasks (bank, doctor, shopping);
- – Helping them to participate in activities organized by ONCE (accompany them from their homes to ONCE and back home) and support in different workshops: ceramics, reading);
- – Accompaniment in excursions or trekking, in big events and celebrations in which people without self-autonomy or family support would not be able to participate;
- – Going for a walk with them (to the beach, to the park…) offering their company.
- – Helping with promoting the ESC programme.
SECOND AREA
(AMPROS activity)
users with disabilities
- – Accompany the users during different free time daily activities scheduled by the center, for example zumba, Internet, games, regional dances, cooking workshops, karaoke, sports activities, gymnastics, hand crafts, theater etc. Volunteer’s daily activities takes place from Tuesday to Saturday from 4 pm to 9 pm.
- – The volunteer gets the chance to organize special events like Winter Festival, San Valentine’s Day, Holiday Programme, Summer Camps, weekend activities in a hostel, sports events, festivals to celebrate Cantabria Day and seminars about volunteering.
- – She/he collaborates with other organizations or training centers like Asociación Ser Joven in order to manage workshops, summer and work camps, educational activities (like “La Noche es Joven” in Santander), meetings and seminars to promote ESC and European projects.
VOLUNTEER’S PROFILE
Bona fides is looking for a motivated and flexible person, avaible to work with disadvantaged people (blind, deaf, seniors…). In this project the volunteer is required a great sense of initiative and desire to help, elements requiered to work with these types of social groups.

- – At the beginning of the activity, all volunteers are offered a special training course by specialists to know and understand how the organization works and how to behave with specific users

ARRANGEMENTS
Accomodation, food and transport cost are covered. The volunteer will have the possibility to live in a shared flat withother ESC volunteers with internet WIFI. The organization will provide a travel card to use the local transportation, a monthly pocket money, food money.
