Activity description

Associazione Il Ce.Sto Onlus has been involved since 1987 in the promotion of integration and social promotion processes among the different ethnicities living in the historical center of Genoa, with particular attention towards minors, second-generation migrants, and other actors in the neighborhood. The social unit of collective hospitality for Unaccompanied Foreign Minors “l’Oblò” was born from the need to ensure unaccompanied foreign minors the most appropriate existential and educational conditions to achieve the satisfaction of their needs for care, support, protection and accompaniment. L’Oblò is proposed as a residential structure organized to accommodate a number of guests not exceeding 15 minors up to the age of majority.

Volunteer’s activities :

  • – Organizing recreational activities for adolescents like games and workshops,
  • – Language support,
  • – Administrating daily tasks such as pedagogical & sports activities, short trips, and visits; looking after the common spaces.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will live in Genova in a shared apartment with double/triple rooms. 5 euros per day of pocket money and food or a food allowance will be provided. The travel expenses will be reimbursed on the basis defined by the European Commission.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will participate in the training opportunities offered by the Italian National Agency (On Arrival Training, Mid Term Evaluation, and Final Evaluation). In addition, they will also take part in the training opportunities organized by association P.E.CO., together with the other volunteers involved in the activities of other Hosting Organizations in Genoa. They will also receive specific training in the Hosting Organization related to the target group they will work with.

Participant profile

REQUIRED AGE 23 YEARS OLD. Available for the WHOLE duration of the project:
September 2023-February 2024 The ideal volunteer should have an high flexibility and adaptability to new situations, open-minded and cheerful personality but also know how to take part in a project for the development and integration of an entire community in the center of a large Italian city. Prepared to take up a delicate role in contact with young people that often come from complex family situations and ready to work in the multicultural environment. Good knowledge of English, willing to learn Italian.
