Hello everyone! My name is Anastasiia and I’m a volunteer at the Bona Fides Association in Katowice, Poland.

I’d like to share my journey of becoming a volunteer and talk about my duties in general. I wanted to be in an intercultural environment since my university years, so when I finished my studies at the age of 21, I decided to take it seriously — and I got accepted in Poland!

I was super happy to try myself in a new environment, explore the country, meet new people, and learn more about solidarity and Poland in general.

I joined a very supportive team at the association, a friendly group of volunteers, and a mentor who helped me with everything I needed, such as getting a SIM card, obtaining my PESEL number, and so on.

My main duties as a volunteer included teaching kids about my country by giving presentations, playing with them, doing monitoring walks to check if everything was in appropriate condition for inclusive spaces, organizing different events, helping children with disabilities, and many others.

I love being a volunteer because it gives you more freedom, independence, and creativity, and it teaches you how to become a better version of yourself.
