Hello everyone! My name is Jakub, I am currently on a 6-month volunteering (January – July 2026) project with Cross Culture International Foundation (CCIF) in Pafos, Cyprus.
I greatly enjoy my time here as Cyprus is a beautiful warm island with lots of history, many historic places and it’s where different cultures meet.
During my project, I get to meet new people, young people through youth exchanges and volunteer training as well as teaching English to adults in a non-formal format. My volunteering allows me to go out of my comfort zone through leading the English language classes.
I also have the ability to improve my public speaking and teaching skills and to become more open to people on a regular basis.
The Youth Exchange in March 2026 was an amazing experience as I got to have lots of fun with everyone!
I was able to meet and bond with students from different cultures, share different experiences and build international connections through leading and participating in various activities such as exploring the colourful city centre of Pafos.
Of course volunteering isn’t only about working in the place where your project happens! It’s also about travelling and discovering different places.
I was able to travel all-over Cyprus and visit Armenia on a short weekend break as well as going on holiday back to Poland to run my first ever marathon.
I encourage everyone to participate in a short and long-term ESC volunteering program and to have Bona Fides as a supporting organisation (their great, thank you), it’s an amazing experience and you will not be disappointed!
