Bona Fides Association has an opportunity for Polish volunteers (citizen or resident of Poland, aged 18-30 yo) to join a 12-month volunteering project with Društvo Barka (L’Arche Slovenia) in Medvode, Slovenia from September 2025 to September 2026!
Društvo Barka (L’Arche Slovenia) community is a part of the national federation of L’Arche. Our shared mission, both globally and locally, is to live in mutual and meaningful relationships with adults with intellectual disabilities.
Over the years, we have been successfully hosting international volunteers through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programmes. We are now looking for three international volunteers (18–30 years old, male or female, including those with fewer opportunities) who would like to live and grow alongside our community during this time.
At Barka Slovenia, our work is organized into two main programs:
- Institutional Care – we run two community houses where adults with intellectual disabilities live permanently alongside assistants and volunteers, forming a shared, home-like environment.
- Day Programme (Training, Care, and Employment under Special Conditions) – during weekdays, all our core members (both from houses and those, living with their parents/caregivers) come to workshops unit and participate in meaningful daily activities such as art therapy, dog therapy, horseback riding, painting, sewing, dancing, wooden workshop, cooking, and many other creative projects, supported by a dedicated team of co-workers and volunteers.
Volunteers typically live in our community houses, where we have designated living spaces prepared specifically for them, but this is not mandatory (we have some funds to support volunteers who would prefer to live elsewhere during the project). Barka holds both hosting and lead organisation quality labels, ensuring a supportive and well-structured volunteering experience.
