Our Jewish Masorti kindergartens consist of 5 mixed-age bilingual groups (german-english and german-hebrew), children coming from families with diverse cultural backgrounds. The volunteer will be integrated in one or several groups where she/he will assist teachers on a daily basis.
Spending a year in our kindergartens is a unique opportunity to get in touch with children pedagogy, to be part of a multicultural team and to discover and experience Jewish life in Berlin!

EVS Volunteer tasks:
Masorti Kindergarten
– assistance to the team of the Masorti Kindergarten with all tasks of the daily life of a Kindergarten
– taking care of children
– assisting with kitchen and cleaning tasks
-realising individual ideas and projects
Masorti Germany is head organisation to two Kindergartens in Berlin Wilmersdorf. The two Kindergartens are in proximity of each other, both use a large garden area for outside activities.  The Kindergartens I and II offer 75 places for children from 1 to 6 years in five bilingual mixed-age groups (three German-Hebrew, two German-English groups).
In each group, we employ two teachers. More than half of our one to six year-old children are from families with migration background.

The volunteer has the unique opportunity to experience Jewish Life in Germany today and to support our important educational work. The volunteer also acquires theoretical knowledge about Judaism and Jewish Life in Berlin, Germany and Europe. All three projects have a strong intercultural dimension.

VOLUNTEER PROFILE
We would gladly host a volunteer who is happy to be surrounded by children, is creative and initiative. Responsibility and reliability are also very important characteristics the volunteer should bring. As for language skills, English is of importance for the everyday use; German would be an advantage.

HOW TO APPLY
Please send us your CV (ideally an Europass CV) and a motivation letter in English with a clear explanation why you would like to do an EVS in our kindergartens. We will get back to you!
