AfricAvenir International e. V. works in the field of political and development education with a focus on African-European relations. Our activities consist of an established mixture of classical formats such as workshops, lecture series, and publications, as well as cultural and artistic activities and movies.
Features various activities in the field of political and development education and culture, and focuses on causes of flight and migration. Flight and migration have become the subject of countless public debates and continue to dominate the media. However, more often than not, it is „refugees“ that are argued against, not the causes for which they are leaving their countries. The aim of the project is to develop a thorough understanding of the complex reasons and motives that push human beings to leave home and ask for asylum in another country. We seek to prevent discriminatory perceptions of migrants and want to encourage policy-makers to find new and sustainable solutions to the so-called „refugee crisis“.
The volunteer will be introduced to the various tasks of running a programme of an NGO in the field of education and development politics. We encourage to take responsibilities of her own in fields he/she finds interesting. Such tasks include amongst other:
– researching projects and guests and participating in events planning within the project ‘Why we are here!? – African Perspectives on Flight and Migration’
– getting acquainted with public relations work and supporting the daily communication
– learning about the necessary administrative matters (project and office related)
– supporting the text production, editing, translation
– accompanying our guests in Berlin and staying in touch with our audience and friends
– taking part in midterm project planning
