Description of the project
Mozet is a small village of 300 inhabitants. Around the Church, perched on the hill, the old centre characterized by the narrow streets along which small limestone houses are aligned whose charm justifies the title of “most beautiful village of Wallonia. Along the Tronquoy, peaceful small stream crossing the village, we find two large farms in closed court – whose farm of Royer and his Romanesque tower-that in times past centrelized the main part of the agricultural activity. The castle farm of the Domaine de Mozet is the third major building in the village. The villagers work for the most part in the cities. Mozet contains no shop, no bar. The residents have relatively high income. The castle farm, hosts people of all ages and from all social backgrounds. In addition to these remarkable buildings, Mozet offers attractions such as the famous prehistoric caves of Goyet, riding schools, .. Mozet is 15 km distant from Namur, the capital of Wallonia. Namur is also the headquarters of two academic centres of international renown. The city is accessible by bus (frequency: every 2 hours). Communications to Liege and Brussels are possible by train. The accommodation of the volunteer is proposed: Either at the castle-farm, in a very rural and isolated environment. Either in the city Namur, in an urban setting, in a pedagogy which houses young people from all countries. It is then necessary to take the bus every day (it takes about 45 Min) to arrive at the Domaine de Mozet.

Proposed activities for EVS volunteers
The volunteer will receive language classes in Namur. The first week will be devoted to discovering Namur and the surrounding area. BSC Namur will be in charge of this first week. This will be done in a goal of passing on of intergenerational and intercultural discovery. The volunteer will have a contact point and a contact person at BSC Namur, in charge for the courses, entertainment, financial and administrative aspects. In the Domaine of Mozet, the manager will be the tutor or the reference person for the work itself and the monitoring of volunteerism in everyday life. A typical day runs from 10am to 5pm, or 6 hours per day, on average, 5 days per week. A leave of two weeks per semester is planned. The project of the Domaine de Mozet is recognised by regional authorities. — Centre for Social tourism approved by the Walloon Region. — Centre Meetings & Hosting recognized by the French Community — Grants for the facilitator and coordinator and operating subsidies — Approval of the Division Nature and Forest and the Walloon Region for training and awareness nature (valid until November 2009). The Domaine de Mozet resolutely is committed as an actor in its region. Its involvement as a partner in various associations and federations demonstrates its willingness to contribute to the promotion of heritage in the region. The dimensions “environment” or “natural heritage” include actions relating to the Domaine de Mozet, and in which it wishes to get involved: ‘Conduct information, education and awareness actions “To promote the discovery of nature and heritage. “Promoting renewable energy” The Domaine de Mozet distributes and implements the principles of sustainable development. At the level of the environmental mainstay, the guidelines of the proposed activities and the ecocivic chart provided to each host commit the Domaine in the right track of Education Relating to the Environment. The “Nature and Heritage” activities that take place within the Domaine affecting young and old people from all background, and proposing to raise awareness, initiate, train and educate for the sake of sustainable development. Their goals: to go and to meet the nature through the five senses; to generat another look; to arouse wonder; to raise awareness of the richness of the natural environment that surrounds us. This awakening reveals an imaginary allowing us to better understand and to broach the important issue of sustainable development. The volunteer will participate in the activities, carry out with young people and develop tools for citizenship, or teach people to take the time to ask questions and to position itself compared with an own ecological footprint. The volunteer can make a garden, information signs, movies, games, books, events in schools for children aged 3 to 12, in an extra-school framework … At the social level, the Domaine is part of the project named “Environment for All”, sponsored by the Region Wallonne, which offers specific activities to raise the awareness of less advantaged people. At the economic level, the Domaine intends to play a catalytic role in the field of eco-renovation as given evidence by the partnership forged with CLUSTER “eco-building”. The volunteer will participate in the project eco-renovation, providing specific animations for young people, developing tools, … The activities of the volunteer are thus external in the nature, but the volunteer will also develop a project or an editorial work (either on paper or on a computer, for example: information signs..). He will participate in international summer voluntary work camps. The summer workcamp may also be the culmination of EVS. Then there is transmission of information, work, projects, the group animation.
