Open youth centres provide non-formal education activities for young people aged 7-26. Youth centres follow the principles of open youth work- they permit equal access and opportunities, support for young people and their ideas, space for socializing and equipotential partnership.
Currently, we are looking for volunteers for the European Solidarity Corps project:

1) Saue youth centre: ASAP (up to 12 months)

Russian language skill is an advantage, plus skills or interest in skateboarding, BMX or outdoor activities.

The beginning and duration of the services can be modified according to your availability.
The aim of the project is to bring the World closer and increase the awareness of young people, youth workers and local community about the World- different countries, cultures, languages, traditions, people, interests, possibilities- and to remind that everyone, despite being different and facing a different reality, have the same human rights and aspirations in life. International volunteers act as ambassadors of their reality, yet presenting creativity, tolerance and adaptability in the new settings, being a role model to local youth and a link to the World.

As a volunteer, you are expected to be open-minded, interested in working and communicating with young people, able to communicate in English, willing to stay in Estonia for long-term service and ready for the long dark winter here. Previous experience in working with children and young people may be an advantage.

Tasks of volunteers in youth centres:

– To be a helpful hand in the local team of youth workers
– Spend time in the open space communicating with youngsters with different background visiting the youth centre, helping to find their interest and to encourage them to realize their ideas
– Contribute to the activities of the youth centre and initiate new ones
– Communicate and collaborate with different partners in the youth centre and community
– Foster intercultural dialogue, diversity and human rights
– Introduce one’s culture, traditions and language in a creative and engaging way
– Contribute with and/ or build up one’s interest and skills, may that be cooking, media, crafts, (extreme) sports, theatre, environment etc… Bring your own ideas into life!

If you decide to volunteer, you will be granted:

+ Monthly pocket money (4€ per each day of your volunteering service)
+ Monthly food allowance (6€ per each day of your volunteering service)

+ Tutor to instruct you at work
+ Mentor – a friend outside from your working place to assist you with life in the hosting society
