Local communities of more than 20 Sicilian cities and villages, who will benefit from the solidarity action of volunteers engaged in tracing and mapping the heritage and promoting walking as a healthy lifestyle practice and in carrying out practical actions and raising awareness on environment.

The project aims to promote non-formal activities in 3 different areas:
Healthy Lifestyles, Hiking and Cultural Heritage.

1. The project promotes two different itinerant group actions aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles in order to improve the quality of life of the members of the local communities that will be affected by the activities and to succeed, with a view to a long-term impact, in decreasing the incidence of all those pathologies that can be the object of active prevention and to increase the share of the most vulnerable segments of the population among those who undergo periodical screening and check-up campaigns.

2. Through hiking practices as a healthy way of life, non-formal education and Eco-Coaching, the project, which will also promote the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, will focus on the social, personal and professional development of the volunteers. During the various stages of the project, the volunteers will be engaged in public awareness-raising actions on environmental sustainability and ecology, such as the cleaning of routes and urban areas touched by the Vie Francigene di Sicila.

3. The project promotes knowledge of the Sicilian cultural heritage, through first-hand experience of the history, customs, places, traditions and art of both the large centres and the rural villages and hamlets scattered along the various routes of the Vie Francigene di Sicilia.
