ESC WORKCAMPS
SJ/ESC04: A Garden to Read
- Location: La Ferté Alais (near Paris)
- Dates: 20/04 – 04/05
- Description: Join the Vir’volt International Volunteers Village and help transform an abandoned, overgrown garden at the Ballancourt media library into a friendly reading space for children. Volunteers will clear the area and build wooden benches, tables, and decorative elements to create an ecological environment for local residents. You will live in a unique eco-responsible village in yurts and tipis, practicing sustainable living.
SJ/ESC05: On the Roman Bridge
- Location: Molières-Puycornet (Tarn-et-Garonne)
- Dates: 22/04 – 05/05
- Description: Help preserve local heritage by restoring the “Pont Vert,” a 12th-century bridge. Under technical supervision, volunteers will reinforce the bridge’s structure and façades while removing invasive vegetation. This project is perfect for those who enjoy manual work on historical monuments and want to experience life in a picturesque French village. Accommodation is provided in bungalows at a local campsite.
SJ/ESC06: The Spring Vegetable Garden
- Location: Montendre (Charente-Maritime)
- Dates: 14/05 – 29/05
- Description: Immerse yourself in permaculture and sustainable development at Maison des Bateleurs. Volunteers will maintain the spring vegetable garden through sowing, transplanting, and harvesting, while also caring for the site’s eco-facilities, such as an insect hotel, a chicken coop, and a phytosanitary pond. It is an ideal project for those interested in ecological transitions and intercultural exchange in a community setting.
SJ/ESC10: A Greenhouse Dome for the Cévennes’ Garden
- Location: Finiels, Cévennes National Park
- Dates: 10/06 – 24/06
- Description: Located at an altitude of 1,200 meters, this project focuses on building a wooden geodesic greenhouse dome for a community garden. The dome is designed to withstand high-altitude weather and allow for year-round cultivation. Participants will learn wooden construction techniques while living in a remote, beautiful mountain setting. This is a great opportunity for volunteers who love nature and want to contribute to a “nourishing” community space.
