Bona Fides Association has an urgent opportunity for a Polish volunteer to join a 8-9-months project with Jugendbildungsstätte Unterfranken at the Kindergarten Elisabethenheim in Würzburg, Germany!

Place: Würzburg, Germany
Duration: 8-9 months
Dates: ASAP – 02.08.2026
About the organization & task for volunteers
Elisabethenheim is a catholic institution that has day nursery, kindergarten and school groups. The volunteer’s duties are to help the teacher with daily tasks (to plan the activities, prepare the tables for lunch, clean up, etc), take care of the children, but also to play and have fun with them.
Accommodation
The two volunteers that work in the different groups live together with four other students in a WG. It’s in the building of Elisabethenheim, but not in the same building as they work in. Even if the apartment is a bit old it is very nicely located in the city center, it is a few minutes away from bars, the river and commutes. It also has two very nice roof terraces with a nice view over the Marienberg Festung and the city. You’ll have your own room and you will share the kitchen and the bathroom (there’s three baths and two showers).
Life in the city
Würzburg is a student city with a wide range of leisure activities close to the apartment. In spring, summer and autumn the river is the meeting place for everyone in the city where different activities take place and you can meet a lot of people. When it is a bit colder there are a lot of good bars and restaurants to choice from. Apart from the river, there’s a lot of nice things to see in the city. The Alte Mainbrücke, Marineberg, the Residence or the Käpelle are places worth to visit. However, just walking around the city or in the wine fields is also very nice. And if you have a travel bug, Würzburg is the perfect location for you. It is near to beautiful cities like München, Bamberg, Nürnberg, Rothenburg or Taube – the list goes on. It is also quite close to neighboring countries such as France or Belgium.
Other volunteers
One of the highlights of this project is definitely all the other volunteers in and around the city. In total we are 17 volunteers and someone is always hanging out with someone. We see most of us together at least once a week. Having people that’s in the same situation as you is really helpful and a huge support, but, most importantly, really fun.
Practical things
• We get a German Ticket (public transport and regional trains in whole Germany)
• Per month we get about 210€ (7€ per day) pocket money and 260€ food money (and lunch during the work)
• German classes with the other volunteers are included
Language courses
Once a week we have an hour language course with the other volunteers. We are usually 4-5 in every group. It is usually at the home of the German teacher but at the moment is online because the group wanted it like this. Apart from, there’s also the online language support that the ESC is providing.
