About the hosting organisation
The Social Cooperative Enterprise Apano Meria is a group of people who love Syros and want to contribute to its sustainable development. Through research, environmental education, volunteering, and culture, we aim to promote, preserve, and protect the natural and cultural heritage of the island, with a focus on the protected area of Apano Meria.
We are working towards a future where nature, culture, and cooperation are intertwined, leaving a positive impact on Syros.
European Solidarity Corps Programme
The European Solidarity Corps brings together young people to build a more inclusive society, supporting vulnerable people and responding to societal challenges. It offers an inspiring and empowering experience for young people who want to help, learn and develop.
The programme aims to establish green practices in projects and encourages environmentally sustainable and responsible behaviour among participants and participating organisations. It supports the digital transition through projects and activities that boost digital skills and foster digital literacy, while also promoting young people’s participation in democratic processes and civic engagement.
Volunteer’s Profile
We are looking for motivated young people (18 – 30 years old) who wish to experience and contribute to community life, sustainability and hands-on ecological work. No previous experience is required, only curiosity, openness and a willingness to learn by doing.
Ideal volunteers can work independently but also enjoy teamwork, hands-on activities and creative expression. They are ready to adapt to simple living conditions, share responsibilities and participate actively in the projects of the SCE.
Requirements
- 🔷 Fluency of English language (knowledge of Greek will be highly appreciated but is not necessary)
- 🔷 Strong communication skills
- 🔷 Good computer skills
- 🔷 Valid European Health Card
- 🔷 Respect towards: Gender, Gender identity, Sexual orientation, Native language, Physical and/or mental capacity, Race and/or ethnicity, Origin, Socio-economic status, Religion or lack thereof
