Bona Fides and Initative Developpement Citoyen (IDC) are looking for 2 motivated candidates (aged 18-30, citizens or residents of Poland) for a long-term ESC volunteering project at La Rouatière – a vocational high school in France!

Place: Souilhanels, Occitanie region, France
Dates: from September to July 2026

La Rouatière, is a vocational high school which receives 2 volunteers from September to July. During these 10 months, volunteers will be able to develop small personal projects, related to communication, non-formal education, promotion of international mobility and interculturality, social and language exchange.
There are general and common activities in which they will support the team and they will also be separated in two different profiles for one part of the activities.
We have two possible profiles:
Vie Scolaire (School Life): Vie Scolaire concerns the activities and administration around the classes. Supporting the students in their times of free study, mainly for doing homework and study; Help to organise and run specific events and activities, sometimes with the staff and sometimes with the students; And it can also include the participation in the classes one feels comfortable with the subject to help the teachers.
Some more direct education related activities, with the opportunity to try the role of teaching assistant.
International mobility: since we just set up 4-week mobility internships for French students in different European countries, we are looking for one volunteer ready to help in the management of the mobilities with the coordinator. He/She can help in the preparation for departure, looking for partners abroad, preparing the mobility Kit and Europass.
If you want to know more about the Erasmus projects, and you are an organised person, this is the profile that fits you. This profile perfectly fits a dynamic person with a desire to learn and become autonomous in a very unique field!
At an extra one, to be added to the two profiles:
Communication: The activities will include digital and communication activities, including communication specific to the school: update of the website, facebook page, design of posters and flyers, setting up and co-animation of a newspaper workshop or radio with the students, running a blog, depending on the skills and objectives of the volunteer. At the school there is a lot of professional equipment to work on communication: cameras, microphones, etc.
A person who is willing to learn how to communicate better at 360 degrees, online and offline! His/Her role will be fundamental, he/she will be the heart of the school’s visibility and internal communication with students, he/she can design a project to improve the school’s online visibility and become a real social media manager!
Common activities between the two volunteers, depending on their expectations and skills to develop
• Linguistic activities (conversation tables for departing candidates, a dozen over the year),
• Animation/ activities around the cultural discovery of the volunteer’s country of origin (example: a day of presentation of their country’s culture, related to the canteen, decoration, typical meals, films, photos, discussions, community meeting with locals of Castelnaudary and of the twinning committee),
• Participation in the week “Cultures of the world”,
• Social activities with students or boarders, during the day and in the evening, various activities, participation in events (open days, Health and Sustainable Development Week, Children’s Week, citizen projects, international solidarity projects – example: fundraising for agricultural high schools in Madagascar supported by CNEAP, in which La Rouatière students participate),
• Thematic evenings at boarding school
• Support and assistance to teachers wishing to integrate the volunteer into their activities (language, geography, support and organisation during days out)
• Assist the kitchen teacher and participate in the cooking activities.
The volunteers will be either a “driving force” or an “assistant” within the framework of each of these activities, according to their desires and skills, but they will always be accompanied or supervised by a school’s staff member in charge of each activity.
The volunteers will live an experience of non-formal learning and develop their autonomy, and, of course, gain more self-confidence. Each year the activities carried out are always a little different, it all depends on what type of activities the volunteers develop as personal projects. During the school holidays, volunteers will be hosted by IDC at an eco-place, where they will have the chance to receive training and support for their projects. They will have access to a social life with other volunteers from other countries and projects.
Accommodation, food and transport
Volunteers will live at the lycée in a bedroom for 2 persons with shared toilets and showers of the lycée. They can spend their free time in or out of the site (taking in consideration that there is limited transportation to the villages and commerces). They will be off the weekends and during the school holidays they will be hosted and accompanied by IDC in Carcassonne (on personal projects and tools to create for the animations). Therefore they can go during the school holidays and weekends, to also enjoy the social life with other volunteers. The transports related to the activities will be covered. If they go away for vacation, they will receive a budget to eat. They will have access to some health and administrative services in Castelnaudary, 5km from the school.
Participant’s profile
We are looking for 2 volunteers that are eager to experience a new intercultural experience! With a good capacity for adaptation. Some characteristics that will suit the profile are: sociable, responsible, looking forward to get out of the comfort zone (especially to speak in public in another language), charismatic, flexible, organized, communicative, creative. Interest and motivation in working with youngsters/students and/or in international mobility. Interest/experience in communication is a plus! The selection of candidates will be made by 3 people (representing the high school and IDC, the coordinator of the project).
