 ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

Arrival

Please send us your flight information to your ESC Coordinator in order to receive information on how to get from the airport (Larnaca or Pafos airports ONLY) and assistance to your apartments.

Please note that ERCAN airport is an illegal airport and is strongly forbidden to use it for EU funded programmes.

Once in Cyprus you can use Cyprus By Bus and/or Kapnos and/or Intercity Buses. The most convenient is Kapnos. After exiting the Arrivals, tun left and you will see a sign that says KAPNOS buses. You can buy a ticket there (remember to keep your tickets, boarding passes etc). This bus will take you to the KPANOS Station in Nicosia. We do not have metro or underground trains 😊. On the day of your arrival depending on the time, we will either arrange a taxi for you from the station of Kapnos, or someone will pick you up 😊.

Electricity:

The supply in Cyprus is 240 volts, a.c. 50Hz. Sockets are usually 13 amp, square-pin in most buildings. More than one low current rating appliance may be operated from the same supply point, by using an adaptor (i.e. mobile phone chargers and laptops). Bring or buy suitable adaptors. The use of adaptors for operating high current rating appliances is not recommended (i.e. electric heaters, toasters, irons etc.).

Currency:

Cyprus uses the Euro, you can find places and banks for exchange. If you want to change at the airport you can but generally it is not the best rate and you will be charged a fee. Most establishments accept credit cards.

Health Insurance:

Remember health insurance is your Sending Organization’s responsibility so make sure they have registered you on the insurance platform and send us your insurance number. Also, you are required to have travel insurance or your E111 health card for EU Citizens; your sending organisation will have to inform you of this so please ask them about it.

Medication:

If you take any medication please remember to bring it with you, we have pharmacies here but if you need prescription medication you cannot buy them over the counter without a prescription. If participants have any allergies this needs to be expressed in the participant registration form. Please note that we are not allowed to give medication to volunteers so please bring any special medication you might need. It is necessary to inform us about any physical or other medical issues you may have.

Before purchasing any travel flight tickets, you must ensure that you have sent to the Project Coordinator at least 3 travel options/quotes (via screenshot) with prices to ensure value for money for travel routes, for approval by the hosting organisation. You are required to keep all documents issued in original format (boarding passes, invoices, tickets etc). Without these there is no proof of travel and travel costs cannot be reimbursed.
