1. Open Youth Center “Vartai” (Department of Patria)

Inspire youngsters at the Open Youth center “Vartai” – Volunteering with youth work!

Actio Catholica Patria is one of the first youth activity organizations in Lithuania, active since 1991 and providing social and cultural services to young people. The main goal of the organization is “A young individual ready to live independently”. Independence is understood as a state where a person is able to take care of himself and the people around him and is happy as an individual and a member of the community. The main goal of the Open Youth Centre “Vartai” is to provide social and safe employment services to young people (14-29) regardless of their social status. Vartai Youth Center operates an open space, where young person can spend their free time in a safe environment (without violence, bullying, intoxication, etc.), engage in their favorite activities (various board, outdoor and other games, creative workshops, music, etc.), implement their ideas, discuss topics of interest to them and receive emotional support and guidance as needed.

Participant profile: We are looking for a volunteer, who is keen to create connections with youngsters in the Open Youth Center. Creativity and reflective skills will be a tool for joining the teamwork. Also, it is valuable to understand the youth’s work background, to be open to learning more, and to be open to finding ways through suggesting different activities to build equal and respectful connections with youngsters. Volunteers’ priority is participation in activities of open evenings. Organizing and executing activities with youngsters’ involvement.

2. Kaunas House of Generations

Generations in Harmony: Volunteer with elders and young mothers!

Welcome to the vibrant and dynamic House of Generations! In our institution, we provide diverse social services, to residents spanning various age groups. Our organization is home to around 40 elders harmoniously and 11 young, resilient mothers and their children who add boundless energy to our community. We also operate as a Day Center for the elderly organizing a variety of interesting and engaging activities. If you decide to join us as a volunteer, you’ll be at the heart of it all. We provide the opportunity to participate in activities tailored to our diverse clientele. From tending to the needs of our beloved elders to teaching those new languages and computer skills, your impact will be felt throughout the center. And for our young mothers, you’ll be a guiding light, imparting invaluable domestic skills and easing the demands of daily life.

Empower young hearts: Volunteer with children with disabilities!

Our center was founded in order to help fulfill the needs of children with disabilities and their families. We provide social services to children between the ages of 7 and 18, embracing a wide spectrum of abilities and needs – from mental and physical disabilities to complex developmental challenges. We stand by the side of families, offering support that transcends the ordinary. Together, we explore sports, create art, and tackle everyday tasks, nurturing growth and learning. As a part of our team, you’ll be at the forefront of this incredible journey. 4. Kaunas Archdiocese Caritas “Child Welfare Institute”

The Caritas program of the Kaunas Archdiocese “Child Welfare Institute” (VGI) has been operating since 2016. The main goal of this program is to help a child grow up happily in a family and to give adoptive and guardian families a space to communicate with each other, to get to know children and their characteristics better, to hear their inner voice – intuition, and to free themselves for a joyful relationship with the child. We are looking for an international volunteer to help out or staff. The volunteer would organize various games and activities for the children, help them prepare their homework tasks, and assist them in learning new subjects. The volunteer can also choose to teach the children English or any other foreign language. The volunteer would also spend quality free time with the children, by accompanying them for a walk in nature or organizing and initiating various outdoor activities.

Participant profile: You are an open-minded, emphatic person, willing to work with children and provide them with the care and support they require. You strive to protect Children’s rights and are willing to help them to become more independent and confident.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will receive a private room in a shared flat with other international volunteers, a public transport card, monthly food, and pocket money.

Training during the activity

You will be able to participate in on-arrival and mid-term training, volunteer groups, monthly meetings with your mentor, and Lithuanian language classes.
